Licensed Massage Therapist
Erin uses massage to help her clients reduce and manage pain, but beyond those direct treatments, she helps clients learn to target areas of pain on their own. She helps her clients correct any problems with diet, posture, or sleep that might be contributing to their ailments.
“I love what I do. I enjoy the people and the places these skills take me, and I am always learning as much from my clients as I hope they learn from me,” Erin says.
She began her journey into wellness as a doula and yoga instructor. She worked with midwives in both hospital and home-birth settings providing birth support and massage.
She found her way into the massage therapy world after her own first pregnancy and birth.
“I became aware of the importance of taking charge of your own health and worked in a holistic medicine center with lymphedema and detoxification,” she says. “After losing my mother to complications from back surgery, I became impassioned to help others find relief from their myofascial pain without surgery.”
Approach to treatment
Being a Myofascial Trigger Point Therapist means knowing what muscle to release for specific areas of pain. She approaches treatments by releasing the trigger point with compression and then taking the muscle into its fullest range of motion. By working within the client’s comfort levels she is able to eliminate trouble spots and regain function.
Erin works to give her clients the skills they need to target areas of pain themselves, outside treatment sessions by using specific self-compression exercises and stretching.
She also works with her clients on perpetuating factors — things such as diet, posture, and sleep — to correct those things that undermine a person’s ability to be free of pain and inflammation.
