Jesse Liberty, M.Ac., L.Ac.
Pain Management Specialist, Acupuncturist
Jesse Liberty, a pain management specialist at Well Balanced, has years of experience treating acute and chronic pain through acupuncture and accompanying modalities, such as electro-stimulation, cupping, and heat therapy.
“My goal is to make my patients pain free, which is why I love working in an integrative clinic like Well Balanced. It is easy for me to get my patients better, faster when they are able to get the care they need in addition to acupuncture. It is an essential part of healing that we look at every aspect of your health and wellness,” he says.
Approach to treatment
“Every person is unique. Therefore, their treatments should be as well. This is the exciting aspect of acupuncture and Chinese medicine. We don’t look at you and say, ‘These are your symptoms, so take this pill the rest of your life.’ We look at you and ask, ‘Why do you have these symptoms, and how can we eliminate what is causing them?’,” Jesse says.
Jesse considers you as a whole person, looks at how everything is working in your body both physically and emotionally, then prescribes the best treatment plan specific to you.
Treatments are designed to release local muscle tension, allowing energy and blood to flow freely, easing your symptoms of pain. He not only focuses on the local areas of pain, but also takes a systemic approach to your wellness, incorporating distal points that help relieve mental and physical stress, nourish the body, and give you more energy while at the same time making you feel more relaxed.
There are hundreds of acupuncture points on the body, each with multiple actions and indication. He can create and change point prescriptions based on what is going on that day, and also treat multiple conditions within one treatment.
He uses traditional acupuncture methods to relieve muscle tension, pain, and inflammation, but there may be underlying muscles that are weak and not supporting you properly throughout your daily activities.
In these cases, Jesse often refers his patients to Well Balanced massage therapists for further pain relief and relaxation. Once tension and pain in the body has improved, he may refer his patients to physical therapy and/or chiropractic care to keep them strong and functioning properly.
Education and training
Jesse has extensive education and training in human physiology and acupuncture, that allows him to find what is causing your pain, and treat you with traditional acupuncture methods, trigger points, cupping, gua sha, heat therapy, electro-stimulation, dietary supplements, and Chinese herbs.
I was born and raised in SE Portland, attended the University of Oregon in Eugene, and received a bachelor of science degree in human physiology. I then got my master’s degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine.
Outside of work
Jesse and his wife, Brianna, live in Springfield with their 6-toed cat, Hemingway. Jess enjoys playing city league volleyball and ultimate frisbee, hiking, camping, swimming, golfing and watching movies.
“I’m a big Star Wars and comic cinema geek, love most genres of music, and am a military aircraft buff,” he says.
